What happens if I decide to stop my classes at CDF?

Please just inform us by e-mail or in writing and your tuition will be dropped beginning the following month.

Are my costume deposits refundable?

Your costume deposit is due by November 1st of each year. Costumes are made to order based on the quantity that we request from the companies on December 1st of each season. After December 1st no costume fees are refundable.

Can I watch my child in dance class?

We have designated parents watch days where you and your family can come and view your child in class. During this time you are welcome to video tape and take photographs. If special family members visit on other days than the designated watch days then just let the teacher know and they will be glad to accommodate your special visitor and welcome them into the classroom. Usually, we set aside two official watch days: the week before Thanksgiving and the week before Spring Break.

You can also view your child via are video cameras that can be viewed on a monitor in the lobby.

How does a student become a member of a CDF company performing and competition team?

Students interested in becoming a dance team member audition at the end of every dance season to become a member of the team. Auditions are held the week of the dance recital. Each student is asked to demonstrate steps and combinations that they know from their dance recital routine. They are scored based on technique, clarity, body line, flexibility, presentation, class attendance, and behavior. Class placement is posted on the door of the studio two weeks after the audition process.

Company members usually dance two times per week taking, Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical and Technique. Although the cost of classes remains the same per hour, there is a company fee, additional costume expenses, and competition fees. Families are encouraged to participate in the Sally Foster gift wrap fundraiser to defer some of their expenses.

This program is designed for students that are more committed to the dance program and are willing to be challenged at a more rapid pace than recreational classes. Anyone interested should consult with a CDF faculty member.

How does a student get chosen to perform a solo, duet or trio in the recital?

Student’s and their families elect to take an extra class by signing up for a specialty routine. Sign up sheets are posted in the lobby of the studio and are available at the recital as well. These classes are taught to anyone regardless of age or ability and are designed to improve the student in their chosen dance discipline. Teachers and students then decide whether they want to compete at competitions, create and choreograph a recital routine or just work on technique to improve their skills. These classes are usually taught on the weekend and an additional fee is paid directly to the instructor. If you are interested in this program please speak with a faculty member of the studio.

How does a student become the CDF Recital “Covergirl”?

Students are given the opportunity to sell ads for the program book to either businesses or friends and family. We begin the official ad sales campaign January 15th , but the forms are available from the front desk all during the year. The student or family that earns the highest dollar amount and turns them in by the official deadline is awarded the title of “Covergirl”. Covergirls wins $100, a sash, tiara, trophy, right to the back cover of the program book. Their photograph will be displayed for one year in the studio.

What is the dress code?

Although considered liberal by many standards, we allow students when they are young to wear numerous colors of leotards and tights. We do have specific requirements for shoes. We will be posting the entire dress code shortly, contact us if you need any information.
