“I do not try to dance better than anyone else. I only try to dance better than the dancer I was yesterday.” It is Miss Leah’s hope to encourage all of her dancers to carry this message with them.

Mikhail Baryshnikov

Miss Leah’s love for dancing began at the age of 2 when she took her very first ballet class at the Academy of Dance in Newport News, Va. By age 5 she was active in ballet, tap, and jazz and was asked to audition for the Academy of Dance Showbiz Kids Competition Dance Team. From the age of 5 to 17, as a part of a National award-winning dance team, Leah’s dance repertoire increased, as did her love for dance. Spending most of her time in the studio, Leah studied many forms of dance, but found tap to be her true love. A’Leah has won many awards for her tap solos. Some of her most prestigious awards include: Dance Educators of America “You Instill Dance is Worth Living Award” as well as DEA’s National Workshop Scholarship Recipient and Encore DCS “Highest Scoring Entry of the Day.”

A’Leah began student teaching at the age of 14. At that time, she also became the choreographer and dance coach for the Miss Peninsula Scholarship Pageant. Leah has also choreographed several award-winning talent performances that have been seen on the Miss Virginia stage.

After obtaining her A.A. in General Studies, Leah continued her education at Columbia Southern University where she is a full-time student. She is currently working towards her B.S. in Homeland Security which she hopes to use to further her professional career. A’Leah is the Corporate Administrative Manager and Alternate Facility Security Officer for ICP Systems LLC, an IT Company based out of Atlanta.

Miss Leah joined the CDF Faculty in 2015. She teaches Ballet and Tap Combo for our intermediate 5, 6, & 7-year old’s. For our company classes, you can find her cleaning and teaching/choreographing Tap, Lyrical, Musical Theater, and Ballet. She is also the CDF Website Designer. Miss Leah is so excited for her 5th Season as a part of the CDF Family and Season 35 of Carla’s Dance Factory!

Miss Leah resides in Tyrone, Georgia with her adorable Shih Tzu, Westyn and enjoys spending time with her family, hosting the podcast “BuzzChat” with her sister, and volunteering with the Miss America Organization where she is the Little Miss, Tiny Miss, and Princess Program Director for Miss Fayette County.
