Georgia Youth Ballet (GYB) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit performing dance ensemble. Performances include a yearly spring concert, annual Nutcracker production, community performances, and the annual convention of the Southeastern Regional Ballet Association (SERBA).
As a member of SERBA, GYB joins 25 other accomplished companies in a yearly festival offering master classes, seminars, and performances. GYB members have performed with guest artists from Louisville Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Pacific Northwest Ballet and others.
Georgia Youth Ballet was created in 1996 by Magdalena Maury, who has been teaching ballet for more than 35 years. She is the daughter of world renowned Cuban ballerina Magda Aunon. In 2007, Ms. Maury sold the Studio and Georgia Youth Ballet to Randi Lancaster, a Maury protégé, former GYB student and professional dancer. Ms. Randi strives to give her students the best possible dance education and exposes them to master teachers from all over the world.
Past Master teachers at The Studio have included: Finis Jhung, Elie Lazar, Laura Alonso, Vladimir Issaev, Jessica Mylene, Magda Aunon, Magaly Suarez, Webster Smith, Thom Clower, Maria Chapman and many others. GYB is organized into junior and senior companies. Auditions for each company are held yearly and are open to intermediate and advanced dancers ages 10 and up.
